The program was created in 2004 by Heartland Truly Moving Pictures and the National Collaboration for Youth (NCY).

Its focus is the development and distribution of free curricula based on Truly Moving Picture award-winning films to channel positive messages and life- affirming themes into the minds and lives of youth.

The curricula is designed in conjunction with movie studios and youth educators to get youth reading and watching quality content, provoke thought and exploration of pertinent themes and issues, and inspire participation in theme-based activities and service projects.

In-Theatre School Performances

In-Theatre Performances are abbreviated performances presented to area children from various school settings.

Public, private, and home school students in grades K-12 are invited to these performances.

Prior to the performances, students may participate in a docent program where they move through interactive stations learning ballet history, vocabulary, and see costumes and shoes.

Complimentary cross-curricular materials are provided a few weeks prior to the performance to link the children's art experience to their academic learning. Once the performance has ended, the artists come back out onto the stage and children are encouraged to participate in a question and answer session.

Tickets for these performances are only $4 per student thanks to the wonderful support of sponsors who believe all children should have access to professional quality arts productions.

Over 2,000 students attended In-Theatre shows last year, most seeing a dance production for the very first time.

"Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree. "

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare composed poetry.

He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, "Here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well."

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
